A career built acrossfinance

His career has taken him through the
Royal New Zealand Navy, personal banking and business finance, vehicle leasing, fleet management, asset finance, credit and financial advice.

That experience has given Adrian a broad understanding of how lenders operate, how credit decisions are made and how finance can be structured to support both individuals and businesses.

Adrian’s roles have included:

Adrian began his career as a Naval Rating in the Royal New Zealand Navy.

The experience helped establish the disciplined, organised and service-focused approach he continues to bring to his work today.

Adrian has worked in roles including:

  • Personal Relationship Manager
  • Branch Manager
  • Lending Manager
  • International Trade and Business Finance Manager

His leasing experience has included senior business development and national sales responsibilities, working with businesses to finance cars and trucks, fleets, equipment and other productive assets.

Adrian has also worked in lending management and credit control, providing direct experience of the assessment and management of finance applications.

Today, Adrian works through Finance HQ as a registered financial adviser, providing business, commercial, home and personal finance solutions to clients throughout New Zealand.

Adrian’s qualifications include:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services, Level 5
  • AUT Top Scholar Award
  • Bachelor of Business Studies, Management
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Personal Financial Planning

His professional development complements the practical knowledge developed through more than 30 years working directly with clients, businesses and lenders.

A Practical Approach

Adrian believes the best finance outcomes begin with understanding
the client. Before looking at lenders or products, he takes the time to understand:

  • What you are trying to achieve
  • Why the finance is needed
  • How your income or business operates
  • What commitments already exist
  • What flexibility may be required
  • What the longer-term plan looks like
  • Developing a new product or service

From there, he can explore appropriate options and explain them in straightforward language. Clients value Adrian’s ability to make complex situations easier to understand and his willingness to stay involved throughout the process.

Business and personal finance are often connected

For business owners, finance decisions rarely
sit neatly in one category.

A commercial property purchase may affect the family home. New equipment may affect working capital. Business growth may change personal income. Refinancing may involve both business and residential lending.

Because Adrian works across business, commercial and home finance, he can consider the wider picture rather than treating each requirement in isolation.

Relationships built over time

Many of Adrian’s clients have worked with him for years.

They return as their businesses grow, their families change and new opportunities arise. Adrian believes those long-term relationships are built through:

  • Trust
  • Honesty
  • Clear communication
  • Keeping commitments
  • Taking the time to understand
  • Being available when circumstances change

Local connections, nationwide service

Adrian lives in Tararu, Thames, and is actively involved in the local business community.

He works with clients throughout New Zealand using a combination of face-to-face meetings, phone, email and online application systems.

Wherever you are based, you will deal directly with Adrian throughout the process.
